I Knew We Should Have Made That Left Turn In Albuquerque

Well, we didn't make it to California. Not even close! Due to some strange circumstances that load was cancelled. But, the bright side is, we were given a load going to Reading, PA instead. That is only about 45 minutes from my family. :O) My sister's church is in VBS this week and she and my sister-in-law co-teach the 3-5yr old VBS classes. I was able to go Friday night and help out, and I will get to see the final program tomorrow which will include the big VBS class as well. Arlene Booth was in charge of that and as you will see by the pictures they all did a fantastic job!!
Tomorrow we will be having a family dinner at my brother's house. I will post pics of that soon. For those of you who know my family, you'll be surprised at how much all my nieces and nephews have grown (I know I was).
My Internet connection is slow, so I'm only going to post a couple of pictures of the my sister's classrooms tonight. I'll post more tomorrow. :o) Have a great night.

California, Here We Come

We're on our way back to the west coast. We're heading out from Chicago tomorrow afternoon and have to be in L.A. on Friday morning. That will be just over 2,000 miles. Hopefully I'll get some pictures on the way. I'll let you know if we see anything really exciting on the way.

Finally Pictures of the New Truck

This album is powered by BubbleShare - Add to my blog

I have been promising to post pictures of our new truck along with some pics of us in uniform. Well....here they are! Besides the liftgate, refridgerated box, and pusher axle (allowing us to haul more weight), we also have to carry straps, load locks, furniture pads, a handtruck, a pallet jack, and a furniture dolly. Believe it or not, we still have some room for freight. :o) We have been in our White Glove Truck for right at 2 weeks and have already had some interesting loads. We just hauled a small "spy plane" from an airforce base to a college in North Dakota. Tim got to see one that was assembled (the one we hauled was in crates). I'm looking forward to finding out what we'll get next!

Unique Opportunity

One of the "perks" of our job is that we occasionally have time to stop at a "point of interest". Yesterday we were traveling through Colorado Springs, CO and I noticed that we had a couple of hours to spare, so we stopped in at the Focus on the Family headquarters. WOW! We were both amazed at the scope of the ministries they have. We knew about some of them, but there were soooo many that we didn't know about. We had an awesome time (albeit a bit too short). There was a giant bookstore (we only had time to run through there--fortunately for our pocketbooks). We took a tour of the Administration Building and saw the studio where Dr. Dobson records his radio programs. I have to admit, though, we spent most of our time there at Wit's End. First, I have to tell you there are 3 ways to get downstairs to Wit's End. One, the stairs. Two, the elevator. And, three, a giant slide (see pictures). I couldn't convince Tim to try the slide and I was too chicken to do it alone. When you get downstairs it is a child's paradise! WOW! So many rooms with colorful murals....puppets to play with...other toys too. You can also have an opportunity to record your own Adventures in Odessey in which you get to be a character in the show and they will give you a free CD with that recording (unfortunately we didn't have the time to do that). We did take the time to eat lunch in Wit's Soda Fountain. :) If you are looking for a place to take your next family vacation I HIGHLY reccomend Colorado Springs! I can't wait to get by there again. You really need a whole day just to see everything at Focus on the Family! Not to mention all the other great places to go and see nearby!

Baby Joseph

Mesa, AZ

We were so excited that we got a load taking us to Chandler, AZ. We dropped off just 15 miles from where Bob and Amber Howell are living. I'm posting a few of the pictures I've taken of their new baby, Joseph Andrew Howell. Isn't he handsome? He just turned 4 weeks old today. :o)

More Canada Pictures

Believe it or not, we took more pictures than this, but these were our favorites and we wanted to share them. :) We hope you enjoy them.

By the way, that last picture of the sign...it was before every bridge we came to. I don't know about your car, but ours can't swim!

PS Just as we came out of Canada we got a load offer picking up in Portland, OR and going near Phoenix, AZ. This means I get to see Amber's baby!!! (And Bob and Amber too). I can't wait to get there. I'll post some pictures of that soon. :0)
Also, I'll be posting pictures of our new truck and Tim and I in our handy dandy White Glove Uniforms.

British Columbia

After the breathtaking views in the National Park we thought we had seen the best Canada had to offer. Not so! The scenery just got better and better.

Unfortunately, we also saw some flooding. They had an extra cold winter with more snow than usual, therefore...spring thaw is causing some problems.

What A Trip!

We just finished what was by far the best trip we've taken yet! I'm going to post some pictures, but just so you know...the pictures don't do the scenery justice! All I can say is WOW!

Oh, Canada!

We're on a 2400 mile trip to western Canada. We'll be out of touch for a few days since we always turn off our phones when we cross the border (to save those whopping international calling bills). I'm going to try to take some pictures along the way. We should be back to "civilization" sometime on Wednesday. Y'all take care!

Surprise in Alabama!

We were traveling through Alabama today and we had some extra time, so I called my friend Jessica to see about stopping for a visit. (She always welcomes us even though we often give her very short notice). It just so happens her sister Jennifer(who was a bridesmaid in my wedding) was there visiting with her two adorable children. What Jessica forgot to tell me was that youth camp is on. She is a teacher at a Bible Methodist school in Pell City, Alabama and her house is on the campgrounds. We kind of stood out as we pulled up to the campgrounds in our big truck. :) Fortunatly we got there BEFORE service started, so we hopefully didn't disturb too many people.
By the way, the Penn View Quartet that we saw this past Sunday morning was at this camp! We told them we were stalking them. (I threatend to pass out some Hobe Sound literature in their services). There was a Hobe Sound Bible College van there too, so I suspect we were somewhat represented.

Indianapolis, IN

We spent this weekend in Indianapolis, IN. We managed to track down some friends of ours that used to live in AR and have now relocated to this area. We went to their church this morning and got to hear... The Penn View Quartet

Then, our friends invited us to their house for a wonderful home-cooked meal! This is the second time they have graciously shared a Sunday meal with us with no notice whatsoever! :) We had a wonderful time of fellowship in the afternoon (they gave up their Sunday naps for us too), and then went back to their church for evening service. It was a very nice day!
PS Their names are Paul, Gale, Melissa and Dennis Hires.

Vacation??

We are finally back on the road after spending almost a week at our very own house! Of course during that week we took 3 short loads with the truck, but we spent most of the time at home. We got a lot of work done on our house that has been sadly neglected. We also spent some quality (and quanitity) time at our pastors' (Charles and Leora Schenck) home playing a new game, The Settlers of Catan. We were glad we could cram in so much fun!! We spent so much time working and playing that we did very little sleeping, so now that we are back on the road we're trying to catch up. (Not while driving, of course).
We are praying for an opportunity to come off the road soon. We have really enjoyed driving and visiting all over the country, but we really miss our home, family and friends. We also feel we are missing out on a really neat ministry opportunity. For those of you that read Leora's blog you know she is doing a FANTASTIC job with the teen bus ministry at our church. We would really like to be able to help with that as well as some other ministries.
Help us pray that the Lord will show us where He wants us.
