Out of Florida At Last

We are in Savannah, GA tonight. We are hoping for a great run that will give us lots of miles before Friday night. We didn't get anything while we were in FL. :( Hopefully we will be running again soon.

Prayer Request

We are still in FL. We could use your prayers for a good load out of here soon. While we have really enjoyed our vacation...we need to start making some money again soon. :)

PS It would be nice if the load we get keeps us out of the bad weather way up north.

Tim has been working all week to help Rod Brown redo his kitchen. They replaced the laminate flooring with tile and the countertops with granite. They also laid some VCT in the game room. I think it looks fabulous. Even with the kitchen torn up all week the Brown's managed to feed us some WONDERFUL meals (thank you).

The Crocker's Come to FL

My sister Laurie and her family came to FL for a Crocker celabration. I went to the airport last night and picked them up, then I spent some time with them today.

Spaaahhh!

Before Amber's Baby Shower I took her to A Day of Delight Spa in Stuart. We started out by having Publix subs for lunch, then chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. Then, we enjoyed the hot tub for a little bit, then lounged around by the water. Finally, we topped the day off with a manicure for me and a pedicure for Amber. I had them do a "Chocolate Pedicure" for Amber. It was a fun and unique experience. I noticed that they had a Beauti Control product for sale with their pedicure products! :)
Pardon the sideways pictures. I'm still trying to figure out the photo album so I can put this in correctly.

Beach Pictures

On Wednesday, Amber, Jennifer and I went to the beach in Jupiter. We really enjoying taking pictures and visiting. :)

Uh ohhh...

Well, I'm having a great time here in FL. Amber and I have been shopping and visiting. I'm taking her for a pedicure today before her baby shower. I plan to post some pictures tonight (if we don't stay out too late). On the other hand, my poor husband is about as sick as he's ever been! He's running a fever and feeling lightheaded and all around crummy (poor guy). Please pray that he gets better soon!

VACATION

I'm enjoying my time here in FL. I have been visiting with friends, relaxing and shopping. Tim, on the other hand, has been working (surprise, surprise). He is helping Rod lay some tile. If only I could get them to be a little quiter with those power tools...they're disturbing my nice relaxing day! :)

We're in FL!!!

We finally made it! It is NOT cold down here. (Well, not to me anyway) We enjoyed a morning service at Hobe Sound Bible Church, then we had a WONDERFUL meal at Terry and Sandy Plummer's home. Amber was there too. :)

Florida, Here We Come

We are finally going to a place with no ice or snow. FLORIDA! Today in WV it is blustery cold (about 15*) We will be heading to Florida tomorrow and plan to spend Sunday at Hobe Sound Bible Church. Monday we have to head on down to Miami to deliver our load, then for some reason Tim wants to stick around in Hobe Sound for a few days. I think he needs to thaw out! :) We are looking forward to visiting our friends down there.

Our Children

Katrina and Katie Sickler
Some of you are looking at this post and wondering....(especially Andrea)

Since we have no children of our own we have "adopted" nieces and nephews not to mention we have numerous "non-adopted" nieces and nephews. I'm going to be posting some of thier pictures over the next few days. It may not be exciting to you, but I think these kids are cute and it's my blog! :)

GLOBAL WARMING???

I find it interesting that we have not heard from Mr. Gore lately...Is it possible he is snowed in on one of his speech circuits?

LESSON LEARNED???

A funny thing happened at church yesterday! We went in and sat about half way up on a side asile. Just before service started we could hear a lady makeing her way up towards the front saying, "Hello, Hi, Hello, Hello,..." in a chipper voice. Then, she got to us! She turned toward us and said, "Hhh..." then she got a funny look on her face, turned away and headed to her seat. Tim and I looked at each other, but didn't notice anything stranger than usual. :)
We visit churches all across the US. We have been to mega churches (HUGE congregations), medium-sized and very small churches. We have also been to churches of many different denominations.
It is a very different experience to ALWAYS be the visitors. When we first started looking for churches to visit we had the idea to find very large churches so we could blend in. We quickly found out that it is almost impossible to "blend" in at a large church. We are almost immediately singled out and treated almost like celebreties! You would be amazed at how many people in these churches have invited for coffee or meals. Some have even invited us to spend the night in their homes!
On the other hand, in most of the small churches we are barely even acknowleged. WE definately have not received any invitations into THEIR homes!
It has really made me think about how I have acted in the past when visitors came to my church. I have to admit there are times I was too wrapped up in my own little world to pay much attention to them, much less invite them to my "less than perfect" house.
Needless to say, we have made a note of the churches that made us feel welcome so we can go to them again if we're in the area. Kind of makes you think...I hope some day someone will remember coming to my church because of the kindness and hospitlity I have shown and NOT because it was such a cold, lonely experience.

PS IF you made it to the end of this...THANKS for reading my ramblings! Tim says it's too wordy! :)

PA at Last!

Well, we're finally out of NY! :) We spent much more time there than we planned. The snow was pretty, but it's nice to be making some money again.
We're in Ridgeland, PA tonight waiting to pick up our load tomorrow morning...then it's off to Arkansas! (Too bad we're not going to be close to home this time)
We had an amazing steak dinner tonight at a local restaurant. It was Mmm.....mmm good! :)
Now we're parked at the shipper and I thought "I wonder if there is wireless internet" knowing good and well it wasn't likely (we're out in the boondocks). But, sure enough there is a signal out here. :) As Brother Rowan Faye would say "I'm connected, WOW!"

Ice Storm

Most of you know that we had a pretty bad ice storm at our house a couple weeks ago. While the damage to our house was minimal (we think), our trees really suffered. We lost the big tree in front of our house as well as many, many small trees in our back yard. It looked like a battle zone! I was almost in tears when we got home. I really thought our yard would look HORRIBLE for a long, long time. But, much to my amazement, my husband, his brother Jeff, our pastor Charles, my Father-in-law, and a friend Brother Doyle all pitched in and got a LOT cleaned up in the few days we were home.
Tim and Jeff had the hard job of loading up the big pieces of the tree from the front yard. WOW! They're so Strong!
Jeff's wife, Heather and I had the hard job of keeping warm and entertaining Katie! :)
A Big Thank You to those who helped us get the yard cleaned up! :)

Thanks Daddy!

Just a quick THANK YOU to my Daddy! The other night when we got stranded in Buffalo, NY we stopped at a motel. Of course since the throughway was closed the motels were filling up fast. All they had left were smoking rooms (YUCK)!! Fortunately my Daddy gave us a portable air purifier from Ecoquest Technologies for Christmas. All we had to do was unplug it from the truck and plug it into the motel room outlet. Boy,what a difference ! In just a little while
we could breathe fresh air, no more yucky cigarette smells! THANKS DADDY! You're the BEST!

Montreal

Poor Tim had to get in and out of the truck a lot today. I tried to make sure he was properly bundled up.

I'm sure most of you know that one of the unique things about Quebec is that French is thier first language. Of course that means all the signs are in French, and that most of the people you come in contact with are speaking French. Even though most people here can also speak English, they don't do so very much partially because they are less than fond of Americans.
The other picture I posted is the sign at the entrance of Walmart's garden center. (My sweetie lets me shop internationally)

BRRR

WOW! It is sssso ccccold! My ttteeth are ssstill chchchattering! We are in Montreal, Quebec tonight. It is 5 below 0 with a windchill of about 30 below. On the way up here we were stranded just west of Buffalo, NY overnight because of a blizzard.

We stopped at a motel when they closed the throughway. This is a picture of the parking lot when we got up this morning.
We finally got on our way again. They made us stop and go see a broker at the Canadian border crossing. That meant we had to get out of the truck and take a nice walk (in sub-zero temps--NOT FUN)!

The Alamo

A couple weeks ago we were in San Antonio, TX with an extra day before our load delivered. Unlike your typical truck drivers, we don't like to sit in our truck all the time. We drove downtown and parked at the Alamo Dome then walked about a mile and a half into town and saw the sights.
We really enjoyed ourselves (although my feet complained a lot later that night). History is so much more interesting when you can actually SEE the places! We plan to make it a point to see as many historical sites and national monuments as possible. :)
Let us know if you know of a place of interest that might be really neat to see. Who knows...if we get a chance to be near there we may get some pictures and post them on the site.

We'll be heading to Quebec tomorrow after church, so I won't be online again for a couple days.
Y'all take care.

Still in Ohio

Tim and I are getting back to our normal selves finally (scarey, huh?) They offered to send us to Kansas City last night, but we were not feeling well enough to try another trip that long, so we're still here in Medina, OH. Hopefully today they will send us a great load offer and we'll be on our way again.
Toodles for now.

TA DA!! Here We Are

Well, a couple people told us to try creating a blog, so.... we decided to give it a try. We are in Medina, OH today waiting to find out where our next load will take us. We're both suffering from the stomach flu, so we're hoping it won't be a long run.
We have really enjoyed reading our friend's blogs and hope ours will at least be somewhat interesting. We will be a bit slow posting pictures since we lost the cord to our digital camera.
We'll be trying to post something at least 3 times a week. (Not as often as some of you, but we don't have internet access every day).
Talk to you soon! :)
